The Charrington Restaurant
Dining at Dovecliff Hall
The Charrington is the restaurant of Dovecliff Hall — modern British dining beneath the boughs of our 400-year-old cedar tree, within an independent Georgian country house. Open to everyone, not just hotel guests.
The Experience
An Independent Country House Restaurant, Open to All
Dining at Dovecliff feels like being invited to dinner in a country house: linen, candlelight, a view of the gardens and cooking that lets good ingredients speak for themselves. Elegant, but never stiff.
As an independent manor house — not a chain — every detail is our own. The Charrington celebrates Staffordshire's finest producers, with menus inspired by the land around us and served with warmth beneath the timeless beauty of our 400-year-old cedar tree.
Many of our regulars live in Burton on Trent, Stretton and the villages around — and most tell us the same thing on their first visit: they had no idea this was here.

Our Kitchen
Seasonal Cooking, Cooked Here
Under Head Chef Samuel, our menus celebrate the finest local and regional ingredients — with seasonal produce from our own gardens and orchards, and artisan bread baked fresh in house each day.

Sunday Lunch
Sunday Lunch in the Country
A proper roast with all of it — Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy — served in the restaurant with the gardens outside the window. Our busiest table of the week, so do book ahead.

Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea by the Window
Finger sandwiches, warm scones and pastries with loose-leaf tea or a glass of something sparkling — in the drawing room or on the terrace when the sun is out. A favourite for birthdays and celebrations.
